What do you know about diversity in Indonesia? When you see the diversity around you, how do you respond?

Empathy and diverse individuals are of course things we have learned since childhood. That sense of empathy can give rise to attitudes of tolerance and pluralism. But what does behavior that shows tolerance and pluralism actually look like? Although we often learn about it at home and at school, unfortunately there are not many methods for learning tolerance and pluralism that we can find and use in everyday life. It’s a shame, isn’t it, if our understanding of tolerance and pluralism is never put into practice in our activities with friends?

To that end, Pamflet collaborated with Leader Lab Indonesia, Paduka Play, and teachers and students from 4 schools and madrasahs in South Sulawesi to develop the Tolerance Series Learning Tools. Through these learning tools, you can learn on your own or together with your friends to understand tolerance and pluralism more deeply.

Starting from yourself: Personal Learning Tool “21-Day Journal for Building Tolerance”
Even alone, there are still activities you can do to improve yourself! Over 21 days, learners will learn through reflection, learning materials, and games that can be played independently. This journal is designed to help young people build tolerance, gender equality, and social inclusion, both in terms of knowledge and their own attitudes. The reflection process while filling out the journal also gives learners room to understand the biases and stereotypes that may already be embedded within them. We believe that tolerance needs to begin with self-awareness before moving outward to a broader environment.

You are about to begin a journey of getting to know yourself and your surroundings through this 21-Day Journal for Building Tolerance! Set aside time every day to complete the activities. Start from getting to know yourself, getting to know your family, your experiences at school, and your experiences in the surrounding environment. Not only will you read and write, you will also be invited to draw, color, match, solve crosswords, and enjoy other fun activities!

Anyone can access the 21-Day Journal for Building Tolerance!
If you are a high school student or equivalent who is interested in learning about tolerance and pluralism, or if you are an adult (teacher, parent, older sibling, or tolerance activist) who wants to encourage tolerance and pluralism learning among high school students or equivalent, you can download and print this learning tool independently!

Print the Journal on A4 paper. Try to print the learning tool in color and print every page in full so that you do not miss any information. For the reflective sections, fill in the journal according to your circumstances or understanding. Parents, teachers, older siblings, or activists do not need to examine the completed journal in detail, but do open a space for discussion to make sure the learner understands diversity, tolerance, and pluralism.

If you need the Journal printed in large quantities for community or school purposes, or if you want to print this journal in large numbers and need a higher-resolution document, send an email to halo@pamflet.or.id and youthchallenge@pamflet.or.id introducing yourself, explaining the purpose of using the 21-Day Journal for Building Tolerance, and specifying the document you need.
