Resistance & Resilience: Lessons from Pamflet Generasi in Sustaining Youth Movements, 2024–2026

For thirteen years, Pamflet Generasi has worked at the intersection of youth activism, social movements, and knowledge production. This report shares lessons from the last two years, 2024 to 2026, when Simpul, Urban Futures, and AwareNest Community of Practice ran alongside one another. This website emerged from the same process.

Instead of a conventional annual report, the team created a collective reflection: what worked, what failed, and what should be sustained when working with young people across identities, from major cities to coastal villages, and from campuses to digital spaces.

Why “resistance” and “resilience”?

These words are more than jargon. Resistance describes how the young people we work with continually challenge systems that marginalize their knowledge. Resilience describes how they, and we as an organization, endure and adapt amid limited resources, shifting policy regimes, and collective exhaustion after the pandemic.

“We do not want to be an organization that speaks on behalf of young people. We want to be a space where young people speak in their own voices.”

The report’s methods reflect that principle: in-depth interviews with 42 program participants, three reflective forums connecting city networks, and a review of internal documents from all programs running since 2024.

Key findings

Three patterns repeatedly emerged. First, youth leadership is strongest when program decisions are truly delegated, rather than merely discussed. Second, networks across issues, such as those developed through Simpul, create more lasting solidarity than isolated programs. Third, reproducible methods such as Melamun and Forum Theatre proved most effective in sharing knowledge between cities without losing local context.
